In Conversation With: Andreas Weinås and Per Nilsson - Gentlemanualen

In Conversation With: Andreas Weinås and Per Nilsson - Gentlemanualen

On a crisp autumn afternoon, we meet Andreas Weinås and Per Nilsson at Hotel Nobis in Stockholm. Known as two of the most influential voices in Nordic menswear, the duo has spent over two decades involved in the region’s classic style scene. Today, they co-host Gentlemanualen, the leading podcast for men’s style and fashion in the Nordics.

Both men arrive to the scene with a quiet elegance. Their style is effortless, timeless and refined – yet it’s their approachable and easy-going nature that makes an impression. The conversation flows with ease, shifting seamlessly from technical details about knitwear to practical ideas for styling.

Before our conversation, Andreas and Per had the opportunity to experience our Signature Collection firsthand, and today, we sit down to hear their impressions of the collection.

What was your first impression of the Signature Collection from Carissimi?

Andreas: It was very positive with an impressive attention to detail. I think the first campaign shot in Italy was thoughtfully produced and gave a clear vision of the brand ethos. As nice as the campaign was, I was surprised by the level of the make and touch when I first handled the product in person. I think products like these really benefit from a firsthand experience because it is more about the quality and make than cutting edge designs.

Per: I was struck by how tasteful and sophisticated the collection felt. In an industry where new brands seem to appear overnight, often offering little substance behind the surface, Carissimi’s collection stood out by offering something different.

In your opinion, is there something that makes the Signature Collection stand out?

Per: For me, it’s the combination of the light, thin fabric and the silky-smooth sensation against the skin, which I personally experience as one of a kind.

Andreas: Definitely the rare use of 37 gauge and fibers in 15,5 microns. It offers something quite unique in the world of knitwear and shows how quality and feel can differ as much between different merino knits as they can within cashmere products.

Have you found a personal favorite from the collection?

Andreas: My favorite pieces are the dark grey crewneck and rollneck. I find the shade to be perfect for a monochrome styling with charcoal, cream and black without feeling flat or dull. The lightweight feel and finishing provide a truly luxurious feel that I normally would expect in a cashmere/silk-blend.

Per: I was instantly drawn to the crewneck, in particular in navy and grey. It’s the kind of piece I can see myself reaching for time and time again.

How do you personally style your favorite piece? Do you have any tips for how our readers can adapt it for different occasions?

Per: The crewneck in navy or grey pairs very well with white jeans or off-white moleskin trousers. It works well in many different settings, whether you wear it casually on its own or elevate it with a blazer for a more polished appearance.

Andreas: I will wear it in a quite sartorial manner with tailored garments. Preferably underneath a black or dark grey jacket or a suit for an elegant, tonal but not necessarily formal look.

Before we conclude, do you have any final thoughts you’d like to leave with our readers?

Andreas: I’m very impressed with the dedication to offer something unique and the lack of compromise with both the material, make and execution. It will be interesting to follow Carissimi over the coming years and hopefully see new products and color combinations with the same dedication to the brand’s core ethos.

Per: I am very impressed by the quality - it’s something that needs to be experienced in-person to be fully appreciated, so if you get the chance, I highly recommend trying it out.
